The Society of St. Vincent de Paul are men and women offering person - to - person assistance to individuals in need. We are individuals rooted in prayer and sound core values. We are called to reach out to a brother or sister in need on a daily basis. Perhaps it is a phone call from someone who is or will be evicted from their home; because, a mortgage payment is over due, the utility bills are higher than usual or hours from their work had been cut in half. What ever the reason, we answer the call ! Store visits, pantry lines and office calls reveal the reality that many of our brothers and sisters through no fault of their own need a helping hand. Therefore, the Society is a beacon of hope for the many who make a request for assistance.. READ MORE HERE It has been reported by the National Society that over 12 million seek assistance throughout the year. The pantry here in Omaha served over 17, 000 individuals this past year alone. Through prayer and discernment our Vicentians seek out ways to serve those most in need. We do this by offering compassion and financial assistance. |

| O Faithful God, as your people we cherish our memories and our history as a sacred gift. We ask you to guide us in our time of transition. We need your wisdom, that we might be receptive to change, conversion and growth. We need your grace to redirect our hearts that we may be willing to offer ourselves in joyful service. |
Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride to limit the work of your Spirit, nor custom to prevent the creativity within us from bearing fruit. Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel Give us courage and renewed hope, that we may meet the challenge of being the Church of our time. Amen |

On this Father's Day, we pray for all Fathers living and deceased. May God give all our Fathers who are alive, those precious blessings of fidelity, dedication and generosity they need to keep our families together; and those fathers who have died, may they receive their eternal reward in heaven. _________________ The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of celebrating a national Father's Day. In 1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday in June as Father's Day. |
