ABOUT OUR STORES
Omaha's three St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores are similar to other used
goods stores, but their services extend beyond retail to meet the needs of those
living in poverty. Like other thrift stores, St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores
sell lightly used items at reasonable prices. They accept donations and give tax
receipts. They also pick up furniture and other household items at your home.
But that is not all..
The stores also provide two free complete clothing outfits to people
who have recently become homeless, have been released from prison or
find themselves in emergency situations. Additional free clothing may be
given according to need on a periodic basis. Last year, the stores gave
an estimated $17,000 worth of clothing to individuals and families
who otherwise might not have been able to acquire clothing.
Every fall, the stores also host a free winter coat give away.
In 2013 over 4,500 coats were distributed, which was a record year.
Due to generous donations, each store was able to keep a free
winter coat rack available throughout the winter season.
A significant number of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores patrons
benefit from the voucher program. A collaborative effort between
the stores and Catholic parishes around the city, this program provides
furniture, and other household goods to people struggling financially.
The stores rely on a constant supply of donations to keep up
with the demand. That is where you come in !
Your donations make it possible for the stores to continue their work
of Christian charity in the Omaha community. Whether you are motivated
by a spirit of generosity or annual spring cleaning, your donations
are needed and greatly appreciated. You can drop off clothing, furniture,
and household items at any of three convenient store locations,
or you can call 402-341-1688 and arrange a time for items
to be picked up at your home.
In addition, you can participate in Bundle Sunday
collections at your parish. Bring your donations to church on the designated
weekend and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store staff and volunteers
will load them and distribute them to the stores.
Finally, we are trying to get the word out to all residents in the area
to remind them why it's a great idea to donate items to
Saint Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores.
Please Consider A Donation To Help Us Help Others ;
As you follow the example of St. Vincent de Paul, your donations will
help alleviate the burdens of poverty in a tangible way while
upholding the dignity of impoverished members of our community.
Thank you for your consideration and having a heart for the poor.
